This was a fun little piece. I’ll tell you why.
I found the now defunct Midnight Gallery in Schnecksville, PA late in it’s run. And, to be honest, that got me interested again in exhibiting my art. Not sure why exactly. I may unpack all that later.
Anyway. There was a prompt for a show. It was “Lykke & Hygge.”
What is that you say?
From the event description”
“Lykke (pronunciation: “lu-kuh”) A Danish word that means happiness, pleasure, or joy. It can also translate to “good luck.”
Hygge (pronunciation: “hoo-guh”) A Danish word that centers around the simple pleasures in life. Hygge roughly translates to the word “coziness.” It is a mindset, a way of life, a group of values that focuses on balance and keeps us centered, grounded, happy, and relaxed.”
All I could think of was those “cozy” coloring books. So I set out to create a piece in that vein. Make something cute and comfy.
But… I have this problem. I get ideas. Sometimes… off kilter?
I also have some concerns about ai. What is it doing? What is going on deep in there behind the scenes? Does it even need us anymore?
That is where this piece came from.
It was also rejected for the show. I did get a nice note about it though.
